When should you send out your save the dates?
The venue is booked and the date is confirmed, things are getting serious and not to mention exciting!
Sending out your save the dates is one of the first steps in your planning, that people see anyway. Before you send out the save the dates you need to consider your theme, style and how you want them to look. It is the first insight that people get into your wedding and you want them to be right.
You’re probably desperate to tell your VIPs the date and get them pinned down, so when should you send out your save the dates?
The timeline for sending out your save the dates depends on where you are hosting your wedding, and what date too.
Getting Married Abroad
Save the dates should be sent between 6-12 months before the wedding if you are getting married abroad or asking people to take time off work or travel any distance for your big day. If this is the case then it should be more towards the 6-12 month mark.
Getting Married on a Public Holiday
If you are selecting a special day such as New Years Eve, Boxing Day, Easter or another bank holiday that people may make plans around then get them out 6-12 months before the date. This gives people enough time so that they don’t make other plans or book anything!
Getting Married Locally
If your wedding is local, and your family and friends are too, then save the date cards can be sent out around 4-6 months before the big day. You can then follow up with a formal invitation soon after.
