At Stories Like Ours, brides often ask us "Should my wedding stationery match?" In this blog we are going to share our thoughts on matching stationery.
Your wedding day is a reflection of you and your future spouse. It is a way to combine your passions to create something that reflects you both. This all starts from the moment you send out your save the dates and follow on with the rest of your wedding stationery.
Your wedding stationery will reflect your venue, theme and personality, so you need to have this decided before you start shopping about. Otherwise your mind may change leading to miss matched wedding stationery or having to give up what you have and start again.
Once you are certain of the style and theme of your wedding then you will need to make a list of every piece of wedding stationery you need, such as:
Save the dates
Order of service
Thank you cards
Alongside this, create a mood board on Pinterest of the sort of designs you like that you believe goes with your theme.
Pinterest is your new best friend, trust me.
At my wedding I had a film theme. So everyone’s invites where designed like cinema tickets with all the information on one sheet, the table names were film names which said “Screen 1” then the place names were like ticket stubs. And as you can see we got a little creative with the film titles to reflect both of our interests!
If you are having a rustic barn wedding as the venue then you probably wouldn't go for hot pink sparkly invitations and glitter place cards. You’d probably want more earthy colours to set the tone for your big day.
The reason why your wedding stationery should match is so that everything comes together nicely and ties in well with your venue, and your personalities too. It's so lovely to hear that people received your wedding invite and loved it!
Having wedding stationery which all matches and flows seamlessly reminds your guests of the unique style of your wedding and helps to make it your own.
